President’s Message November 2016

November 27, 2016 — “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”-- Mahatma Gandhi For many of us, the past month has been a difficult one. We are now struggling to find a road map forward into an uncertain future, and to heal the divide between neighbors, family members and colleagues who voted differently than we did. At the same time, this is a busy season for all of us both professionally and personally. As I met with each of our units over the last few months, I heard from our membership throughout the chapter that business is up, with many referrals coming through internet searches or through the ALCA website. At the national level, our association has continued to promote our profession through media outreach. At the local level, our membership is making connections with local chapters of NASW, AARP and NAELA.

Chapter Meeting Report of 15 April 2016 Brooklyn, New York

May 10, 2016 — The chapter meeting of the Mid Atlantic ALCA was held on Friday, April 15, 2016.  Thirty-five members attended the meeting. Treasurer’s Report The chapter currently has $12,074.35 in the treasury. Even after the merger with the national chapter, this amount remains available for our chapter only. Looking Toward the 2017 Board We are currently looking for board members for 2017, and ideally we would have board members from all different areas of the chapter.
