Tori is the owner of Living at Home Consultations, LLC and provides Aging Life Care™ services to older adults in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. Let’s get to know Tori!
What led you to the field of Aging Life Care and why did you join ALCA?
I have been an Occupational Therapist for 24 years and began my private practice working in the community in 2007. I appreciate the benefits of working on a transdisciplinary team and look forward to connecting with colleagues throughout the Mid-Atlantic to provide holistic services to my clients.
Do you have an area of expertise or interest?
My practice provides home assessments, home modifications and fall risk management evaluations. Through advocacy work in DC, I was able to create and launch the Safe at Home program where we completed over 6000 jobs as of May 2023. In addition to the home modification programs, we are working with physicians and non-profits in DC to launch evidence-based fall risk management programs in the community. My expertise is using evidence-based practice to create plans to help with immediate/acute needs, low-cost adaptations, transition to home from a healthcare facility and long-term planning, including remodeling as needed. I also have an assistive technology certification and recommend technology in the home to improve access and environmental control. My staff are well versed in meeting the needs of the individual and their families to remove environmental barriers to living at home.
Do you speak languages other than English?
A little Spanish.
Anything else you would like to share about yourself?
I am grateful to be part of this association and sharing resources with everyone.
