Member Spotlight: Anita Rothwell
I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in the Washington, DC metro area for over 20 years. Currently, I am in my own care management practice, Rothwell Care Management, LLC. Prior to this, I worked as a geriatric care manager for 5-½ years at Care Management Associates (CMA), specializing in medically complex situations.
Before CMA, I worked at the Kaiser Permanente Neurology Department in Kensington and the Neurology Center in Chevy Chase, Rockville and Wheaton as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. My work concentrated on chronic neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, and Headache Management. During this time, I was a co-investigator on several Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease research drug trials, authored a chapter on Parkinson’s Disease for a nurse practitioner textbook, and guest lectured for the Adult Nurse Practitioner Program at the Catholic University of America.
I began my work in the DC area as a staff nurse at Georgetown University Hospital on the medical-surgical floor for the patients of St. Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital. While at Georgetown, I also worked as a volunteer public heath nurse in the Dominican Republic through the Georgetown Organization for Latin American Affairs.
I received my BSN from the University of Texas at Austin and my MSN in the Adult Nurse Practitioner Program from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
